Bio-One of Allentown decontamination and biohazard cleaning services

After tragedy strikes, father & son cleaning team handle the messiest jobs

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - When a death or some other tragedy takes place, we don't often think about who cleans up the mess.

That's where Joe and Rob Petit-Clair come in. The father and son duo opened Bio-One of Allentown last year.

"It could be anything from unattended death, suicide, homicide, blood cleanup,” Joe said.

In addition to biohazards, they also deal with a lot of hoarding situations.

Operating 24/7 with one other full-time employee and several part time workers.

"It's more of a niche business,” Rob said. “But there's a lot business available in the Lehigh Valley. A lot of need for it. Even just basic cleanups and things like that, and beautification of areas."

Once suited up in PPE and a respirator, they remove debris and use a sprayer to deliver a 4-step cleaning process that breaks down organic material, kills all viruses and pathogens, and then cleans and polishes.

The goal: to make it look like nothing ever happened.

Most of the services are covered by insurance with a deductible.

"A lot of good people out there that have one or two horrible things happen to them and they find themselves in a situation they never would have been in years ago,” Rob said.

While their work might not be for everyone, they say it's vital and incredibly rewarding.

"I like that every day is different and you really are able to help people. Normally it's one of the worst days of their life and to be able to come in there and handle the situation for them is awesome,” Joe said.
